I am currently working on Device Free Passive Localization system which is a system that detects/tracks human beings using their effect on WiFi networks without their participation in the localization process using different statistical analysis techniques on received signal strength indication (RSSI).
My graduation project was focused on Numerical Weather Prediction Acceleration using GPUs. We worked on accelerating one of the modules of the WRF model and our implementation was published here. We then applied different optimizations and did extensive analysis on the impact of those optimizations. Our work was accepted as a research poster at the ACM Student Research Competition (SRC) at PACT 2010.
I am interested in network scalability research. I had an internship last summer in Nile University. We worked on a bandwidth aggregation solution for portable devices without the need for any infrastructure. We came second in the ACM Student Research Competition (SRC) at MobiCom'09. Also the summer before I have worked on the network modules of an open-source library that handles nonblocking IO operations for Ruby servers.
I was the team leader of Software Freedom Day @ Alexandria University event and I was the first Sun Campus Ambassador in Egypt. That helped create open source communities and give presentations about different open source technologies in different universities all over Egypt.
