First Day in China

I AM FINALLY THERE!
After two long flights, a wait in the transit and a long taxi drive I finally arrived at my room in Best Western OL Stadium Hotel in Beijing, China.
The flights were comfortable especially the one from Doha to Beijing, the entertainment system was amazing as I got to watch "Angels and Demos", a "Fringe" episode and listen to some arabic and english music. The staff of Qatar Airways were nice and helpful, the food was OK and I got to sleep on the second flight.
Al Doha transit was OK, I got to meet a Chinese girl called Emma, she helped me pass the boring two hours transit.
For health issues they asked us to fill a form on the plane asking about our health condition, I had a running nose because of the air conditioning and so I mentioned in the form. When I got to PEK airport the doctors had me checked.
The procedures of entering Beijing was smooth, I found out that they had an Automatic Train in the Airport to move passengers between terminals. What helped that every recorded message and every sign was in both Chinese and English.
When I got out the airport I easily found a Taxi and I got to the hotel room, the hotel room is smaller than I expected but it's big enough. I couldn't help but fall asleep right after I got into the room.
I woke up after 3 hours and decided to walk to the conference hotel to see how long it would take me to get there. It was a nice walk and it didn't take long. When I got there I noticed a very high tower that was lit in different colors and blinking in a very beautiful way; I had all the time in the world so I decided to walk to there. I found out it was the Olympic Tower in the Olympic Green. I can't describe how beautiful it is but the pictures will be enough!
When I was walking back to the hotel I found a large bus stop. I asked the driver if he was heading to my hotel and he was!
It was a really great first day, I hope that the next will be much better!

Integrating Click Router and GNURadio

Recently, I have been working on integrating Click Modular Router to work with both WiFi cards and USRPs to facilitate the development of cognitive radio testbeds. I am using GNURadio to control N210 USRPs . I found that developing routing hops to be interesting and worth sharing as it requires the USRP to simultaneously send and receive. This requires the transmission and reception to be on separated frequencies.  For transmission, first a client socket must be created in the click configuration code. Socket(TCP, localhost, 4002, Client true) Then, I used a thread to constantly listens on that socket and transmits the data once a new packet is received. This allows for the separation of tasks and good visibility of the transmission code. I noticed that there is a trend to include the transmission code within the main function which degrades the code readability. Attaching a WiFi Dongle to an AR Drone 2.0 (a.k.a. Compiling Drivers for ARM Based Devices)

Correction (4/24/2014): for your driver to work the AR Drone 2.0 you have to compile the kernel version provided by Parrot which can be found here https://devzone.parrot.com/projects/show/oss-ardrone2 One of the down sides of "out of the box" AR Drone 2.0 is that you can't control multiple drones from the same machine. Another down side is that you can't attach USB devices except flash memories and some other predefined devices due to the limited nature of the busybox deployed on the drone. To over come the first down side without manipulating the WiFi configurations of the built-in WiFi card (i.e. you don't want to mess up your new drone), you will need to overcome the second problem (i.e. install a WiFi dongle and its driver manually). CUDA compilation on Linux (Makefiles)

I have been struggling with compiling complex CUDA code, with complex I mean a lot of .cu .F .cpp and .c files. I have created a makefile that can help you compile that kind of code. I'll try to give a quick view of it here explaining some parts: First you'll need to specify the CUDA path and the compilers and linkers.
